What does the SquareTrade Protection Plan cover?

Jewelry: This Protection Plan covers repairs or replacement where the problem is a result of a failure cause by defects in workmanship and/or materials, including those resulting from normal wear and tear such as:

  • Cracks
  • Chips
  • Scratches
  • Dents
  • Kinks
  • Breaks
  • Kinks
  • Thinning

Watches: This Protection Plan covers repairs or replacement where the problem is a result of a failure cause by defects in workmanship and/or materials, including those resulting from normal wear and tear such as:

  • Watch band
  • Case
  • Clasp
  • Crown
  • Crystal
  • Inner Movement
  • Stem

Tablets & Laptops: This Protection Plan covers repairs or replacement where the problem is a result of a failure caused by defects in workmanship and/or materials, including those resulting from normal wear and tear, such as:

  • Accidental damage from handling (ADH)
  • One (1) battery repair or replacement
  • Damaged or defective buttons
  • Connectivity ports
  • Defective pixels
  • Dust, internal overheating, internal humidity/condensation

Additionally, the SquareTrade Protection Plan provides the following additional benefits for tablets and laptops:

I did not purchase the SquareTrade Protection Plan when I bought my item. Can I purchase it now?

We're sorry, but all SquareTrade Protection Plans must be purchased at the same time as the covered item(s).


Are all customers eligible for the SquareTrade Protection Plan?

No. ShopHQ prohibits the purchase of a SquareTrade Protection Plan on any product shipping to an address in California.


Can I use ValuePay on the SquareTrade Protection Plan?

Your SquareTrade Protection Plan will automatically be put on the same payment terms as the item it covers. If you choose an item that has three ValuePay installments, your SquareTrade Protection Plan will also be charged in three ValuePay installments. If you choose to pay in full for your item, you will see only one charge for the SquareTrade Protection Plan as well.


Is there tax on the SquareTrade Protection Plan?

If the covered product purchased is taxed, the SquareTrade Protection Plan will be taxed at the same rate.


What materials will be sent to me when I order the SquareTrade Protection Plan?

Information about the SquareTrade Protection plan is included in the same package as the product you purchased the SquareTrade Protection Plan for. If you have an email on file, you will receive information within 72 hours of the item being shipped. Additionally, you may go online at www.squaretrade.com or call 1-877-WARRANTY (1-877-927-7268) 24 hours a day, seven days a week.


How long does it take to receive the SquareTrade Protection Plan materials?

This packet will arrive within 21 days of your product shipping in the mail or an email will be sent within 72 of the item being shipped.


When does the SquareTrade Protection Plan coverage begin?

The SquareTrade Protection Plan becomes effective on the day the covered item is shipped.


How long is the SquareTrade Protection Plan coverage good for?

  • Tablets and Laptops: The Drops and Spills Protection Plan (The Standard Plan augmented with the Accidental Damage from Handling [ADH] Plan) is good for two years beginning the day your covered item is shipped.
  • Televisions, Electronics and Desktop Computers: The Zero Hassle Plan (Standard Plan) is good for three years beginning the day the covered item is shipped.
  • Household Appliances: The Zero Hassle Plan (Standard Plan) is good for three years beginning the day your covered item is shipped.
  • Jewelry and Watches: The Zero Hassle Plan (Standard Plan) is good for two years beginning the day your covered item is shipped.


What if my purchase is lost or stolen?

We're sorry, but the SquareTrade Protection Plan does not cover lost or stolen merchandise.


How do I use the SquareTrade Protection Plan?

File online at www.squaretrade.com or call SquareTrade toll-free at 1-877-WARRANTY (1-877-927-7268) 24 hours a day, seven days a week and explain the problem. SquareTrade will attempt to troubleshoot the problem you are experiencing. If SquareTrade cannot resolve the problem, you will be directed to an authorized service center.


How long do repairs take?

SquareTrade offers a 5-day Service Guarantee. SquareTrade will repair your item in five business days or less after they have received the item.


What if my item cannot be fixed?

If your item cannot be repaired, you will be reimbursed reflecting the replacement cost of a new item.


Can I cancel the SquareTrade Protection Plan?

You may cancel your SquareTrade Protection Plan for any reason at any time. To cancel it, log in to www.squaretrade.com or call SquareTrade toll-free at:1-877-WARRANTY (1-877-927-7268) 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you cancel within the first 31 days of purchase, you will receive a full refund. Should you cancel the SquareTrade Protection Plan after 31 days, you will receive a pro rata refund based on the time remaining on your Protection Plan.
