Make Your Outfit Pop with a Peridot Bracelet

A pretty peridot bracelet is just what you need to give your outfit a pop of color! We love peridot for its lively yellow-green color that just-so-happens to pair well with so many outfits in your closet. But we aren’t the first to be huge fans – peridot has quite the backstory that we’d be happy to share with you.

First things first: Peridot comes from the French word that means “gem.” Perdiot can vary in colors making it an integral part of its structure. American peridot is a lovely light yellow-green while Italian period is more of a rich olive color. The Romans called this gem “evening emerald” because its gorgeous green color was said to glow at night.

Peridot traces its jewelry origins to 3,500 years ago! See, we told you we weren’t the first ones. This gem was first mined by the ancient Egyptians on the volcanic island of Zebargad in the Red Sea. As it so happens, poisonous snakes (yuck!) infested the island, which interfered with mining activities, until one Pharaoh had them banished into the sea.

Born from cauldrons of fire, peridot is also known as the “volcanic gem” since small crystals of it are sometimes found in the rocks produced from volcanoes. Hawaiian legend calls this gem the divine tears wept by the goddess of the volcano, Pele.

Let’s bring the conversation back to present day. Shall we? Today, some believe peridot can bring the wearer success, good luck and peace. To possess power, some say the stone should be mounted in gold and accompanied by small diamonds. The gem is believed by some to protect the wearer from bad dreams when set in gold. No matter what you believe, we’re still certain that a peridot bracelet would look so fabulous on you!
