Malachite Bracelets – They Double as Eye Shadow (Well, Hypothetically.)

Malachite – a gemstone of many traits. Its history goes way back to the ancient Egyptians and Romans. Here they used malachite to make jewelry, like bracelets and amulets. It was even ground into powder to make eye shadow. It has also been used as the pigment in green paints. So as you can see, malachite has been utilized for many different things throughout history. But we are here to talk about how malachite looks on jewelry. Cool jewelry that we love to conjure up for you!

Malachite’s color is light to very dark green; this comes from the copper that’s in it. Its eye-like rings are the most popular features – they have given it the label of “Peacock’s eye.” It pairs very well with silver, gold over silver pieces and copper. The bold color makes it suitable for both women’s and men's jewelry. Though not usually faceted, it can sometimes be seen in beads or rings. It is most commonly used in cabochon form in rings and earrings or cut into fancy shapes for pendants. You will sometimes see it carved into cameos, too.
