Hubert Herr Dancing Figures Musical Handmade Wood Black Forest Cuckoo Clock
Elaborate carvings create a classic hunting theme cuckoo clock. The motif starts with a majestic stag's head at the top of the clock, above richly decorated oak leaves. The hand carved, solid linden wood details are finished with two squirrels perched alongside the wooden dial. Complete with a walnut-like rustica finish. Made in Germany.
Designed with an 8-day mechanical movement, the carved wood cuckoo chirps at half and full hours. Hand carved couples dance below the bird after he calls. In addition, the clock plays two different tunes, "Edelweiss" from the musical "The Sound of Music" and Friedrich-Wilhelm Moller's "The Happy Wanderer." Completed with a night shut-off system for silence when you're sleeping.
Measures 7.25"L x 11.5"W x 19.5"H. Weighs 6.2 pounds. Made of wood/plywood/plastic/base metal. Minimal assembly required, about 5 minutes. 90 day limited vendor service warranty.
About Cuckoo Clock Mechanical Movements:
Cuckoo clocks are generally available in two different mechanical movements. An 8-day movement will need to be wound about once a week. A 1-day movement will need to be wound around every 30 hours. To ensure the movement runs its full course, make sure you hang the clock high enough so the weights extend to their full length - usually about 6-1/2 feet high.
About Linden Wood:
Common in temperate climates, linden wood, also called basswood and lime wood, comes from a species of Tilia tree. The pale brown wood is often almost-white in color, with a soft texture and fine grain. These properties make it especially popular for wood carving, resulting in smooth, intricate details. In addition, the light and strong wood is often used for creating the body of guitars.
